Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) is determined based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data. Here's a breakdown of the criteria for rural and urban households:
Rural Eligibility Criteria
- Households without adult members (16–59 years of age).
- Families living in one-room houses with kutcha walls and roofs.
- Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) households.
- Families with no able-bodied adult members and dependent on manual labour for livelihood.
- Landless households relying primarily on casual manual labour.
- Families of bonded labourers as per the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976.
Urban Eligibility Criteria
The scheme targets 11 defined occupational categories of urban workers:
- Rag pickers
- Domestic workers
- Street vendors or hawkers
- Construction workers
- Plumbers, masons, and other daily wage earners
- Sanitation workers
- Mechanics, electricians, and repair workers
- Drivers, conductors, and transportation workers
- Shop workers, delivery personnel, and others in informal jobs.
Automatic Inclusion Criteria
The following categories are automatically included:
- Homeless families.
- Tribal groups such as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
- Legally released bonded labourers.
Exclusions
Families paying income tax, owning motorized vehicles, having a government job, or with substantial landholdings are excluded.
Beneficiaries can verify their eligibility through the official PM-JAY portal or at a nearby Common Service Center (CSC).
Registration for Ayushman Bharat Card
To apply for the Ayushman Bharat Card, follow these detailed steps:
- Go to the National Health Authority's PMJAY Beneficiary Portal - https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in/.
- Log in using your mobile number. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to access the portal.
- On the portal, use the search feature to find your eligibility status. Enter details such as your state, district, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, Family ID, or Aadhaar number. This will help you verify if you are listed as an eligible beneficiary.
- After searching, you will see the Ayushman Card List. If your name appears with a status of "Not-Generated," you need to apply for the card.
- Click on the "Action (e-KYC)" button next to your name. This will prompt you to complete the registration process.
- Authenticate your identity using Aadhaar OTP. Upload a recent photograph as required.
- Provide additional details including your mobile number, religion, date of birth, PIN code, district, and village. Ensure all details are accurate.
- Click the "submit" button to complete your application. The portal will process your information, and you will be notified once your Ayushman Bharat Card is approved.

Ayushman Card Download
To download your Ayushman Bharat Card, follow these steps:
- Access the National Health Authority's PMJAY Beneficiary Portal or use the Ayushman Bharat App.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, state, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, or Family ID to search for your Ayushman Card.
- Check the status of your card. If your card is ready for download, it will be listed with an option to download.
- To download the card, authenticate your identity using Aadhaar. Enter your Aadhaar number and OTP for verification.
- Once authentication is complete, the download page will open. Click the 'Download' button to save your Ayushman Bharat Card in PDF format.

Ayushman Card Status
You can check the status of your Ayushman Card application easily using the following methods:
- Visit the National Health Authority's PMJAY Beneficiary Portal or open the Ayushman Bharat App.
- Log in using your mobile number. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to proceed.
- Find beneficiary details using parameters such as your state, district, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, Family ID, or Aadhaar number.
- Enter your Aadhaar number or other relevant details and initiate the search. The portal will display the list of beneficiaries linked with your Aadhaar. Look for the status column to determine whether your Ayushman Card has been generated or not.
- For each beneficiary listed, you can check the status to see if the card is "Generated" or "Not-Generated". If the card is ready, you will also see an option to download it.
Ayushman Card List
The Ayushman Card Beneficiary List contains details of individuals and families eligible for benefits under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
You can check if your name is included in the list using the following methods:
- Go to the National Health Authority's PMJAY Beneficiary Portal or use the Ayushman Bharat App.
- Enter your mobile number and OTP to log in to the portal.
- Use the search option on the portal to find the beneficiary list. Input details such as state, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, Family ID, or Aadhaar number.
- Once the search is complete, the portal will display the Ayushman Card List. This list will include names of beneficiaries along with their status.
Check the Empanelled Hospital List
The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) allows beneficiaries to avail cashless treatment at empanelled public and private hospitals.
Here’s how you can check the list of empanelled hospitals:
- Visit the official Ayushman Bharat website at https://pmjay.gov.in.
- Click on the "Find Hospital" option available in the top menu.
- Fill in the required details on the next page, including:
- State
- District
- Type of hospital (public or private)
- Hospital name (optional)
- Speciality (if applicable)
- Empanellment type
- Complete the captcha and click on the "Search" button.
- A list of empanelled hospitals will appear, showing where you can avail free treatment up to ₹5 lakh.
Ayushman Vay Vandana Card
On October 29, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to include all senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
As part of this initiative, senior citizens in this age group are now provided with the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, offering healthcare benefits.
Key Features
- Provides ₹5 lakh free health coverage annually to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of socio-economic status.
- Senior citizens already covered under AB PM-JAY receive an additional top-up of ₹5 lakh per year.
- Those enrolled in schemes like CGHS, ECHS, CAPF, private health insurance, or Employees' State Insurance can choose to switch to AB PM-JAY for additional benefits.
Enroll Process
- To enroll for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, start by visiting the official PMJAY portal at https://pmjay.gov.in.
- Click on "PMJAY for 70+" and select "Enroll for PMJAY for 70+" from the dropdown menu.
- You will be redirected to the NHA Beneficiary Portal, where you need to log in using your credentials.
- On the next page, click on "CLICK HERE TO ENROLL".
- Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha, then click Search.
- If no Ayushman card is linked to your Aadhaar, an enrollment link will appear at the bottom of the page.
- Click the link, verify your details using Aadhaar and OTP, and proceed to fill out the registration form and e-KYC with your basic details.
- After filling out the form and completing the e-KYC process, click on Submit.
After submitting the form, your Ayushman Vay Vandana Card will be created, and you can download it for future use.
